War film synopsis

An elite squad of American soldiers in Vietnam. They fight the Vietcong whilst warring with the government and authority figures over the missions and actions they have to do. Main character Hank Graham (Mel Gibson) and his squad fights back against the US army after they napalm a village. They turn renegade and fight alongside the Vietcong. In the camp we learn about each of the characters. The squad consists of Hank (main character), his 'buddy' Joe Marina, the sniper 'loner' Jim cravett, the religious (and youngest- vulnerable) 'slim' Ross White, also the 'comedian' Lenny finally Will Cramm. On a raid lenny is killed and the group mourn his death, in camp Will spreads despair, he betrays the group to the army, as the army move to eliminate the camp, the squad head out to stop them, the film ends with a climatic battle scene, lone Jim uses his sharpshooting skills to kill the us commander before being killed by a grenade. Lenny is shot down as the group charge the main position, Ross sacrifices himself but in the process destroys a tank, Joe is shot in the back by Will who was with the commander, and Hank fights Will. He is the last of their squad and he stays in Vietnam to fight the US.
